Lost in CCI caught up with MA student Reeta Ruotsalainen who is currently interning at Shakespeare’s Globe theatre on Bankside. Although Reeta has a background in drama, she is not working on the production side but is working instead with the Friends of Shakespeare’s Globe, which helps support the running of the theatre.

The Globe was founded by the American actor and director Sam Wanamaker as a recreation of the original London theatre in which Shakespeare’s plays were performed. In addition to a professional company, the Globe boasts a museum and an education programme -all of which combine to show how Shakespeare’s plays were presented in the bard’s own time.

We photographed Reeta in the auditorium, which is currently staging productions of “Love’s Labour’s Lost”, “Othello” and “The Merchant of Venice”.
