“Educating people for jobs that have not been invented yet” : The creative industries and the future of higher education

Posted by lostincci on June 29, 2012

CMCI was represented by Professor Andy Pratt at the Creative Industries: Design for innovation conference on 27 June in Westminster. The event was live streamed by Policy Review TV; it was sponsored by Design Business Association, Creative and Cultural Skills, Creative Skillset, and Ukaidia. Andy spoke on a panel ‘Quality- what shall we teach them?’ about the challenges of remaining innovative and relevant facing higher education and practice education in the multi-discplinary and fast moving field of the creative industries. Specifically the panel addressed and discussed how representatives from the Royal College of Art and Central St Martins, along with CMCI were successfully meeting the challenge of ‘educating people for jobs that have not been invented yet’.
