Posted by lostincci on July 12, 2012

Dr Christina Scharff has had a busy June and became well acquainted with British Airways’ in flight entertainment programme. Ana Sofia Elias, Laura Harvey and Dr Scharff presented at the 7th International Gender and Language Association Conference in Brazil (see https://lostincci.wordpress.com/2012/07/12/cmci-goes-to-brazil-or-at-least-some-of-us-cmci-attendance-at-the-international-gender-and-language-association-conference/). Then Christina flew to Boston (via London – therefore the familiarity with the in flight entertainment) to speak at the annual conference of the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE).

The conference entitled Global Shifts: Implications for Business, Government and Labour took place from 28-30 June at MIT, Cambridge, Boston.  Christina’s presentation Enterprising selves? Negotiating precarious employment in cultural work formed part of the conference’s stream on Precarious Employment and Young Workers.
