CCI graduate artfully lands successful ambassadorial job

Posted by lostincci on August 14, 2012

David Wilby, a former graduate and alumni member of the Cultural & Creative Industries MA at King’s has been working tirelessly since February this year on a project with Harrow Arts Centre as a HAC Ambassador. The scheme brings together local people, community representatives and arts professionals from Harrow and the surrounding area to help advise the management team, engage new audiences and assist in coordinating events.

The ethos of the Ambassadors project is to build bridges with local communities. Examples of recent successful projects include researching funding channels to support upcoming international work, repackaging and marketing on the Magic of the Beatles tribute ‘Golden Anniversary’ tour, and devising new and innovative ways to increase participation and maximise audience involvement. HAC Ambassadors are supported in their work by the Participation Programmer Cate Gordon, who helps coordinate the one-year scheme which is run on a voluntary basis.

Harrow Arts Centre places emphasis on diverse, original programming and a reputation for staging quality events across a wide variety of artforms including film, theatre, music, comedy and dance. At present David, assisted by a number of other Ambassadors, is working on a project to raise the profile of jazz music in the programme through regular Friday night jazz sessions on the last Friday of each month. The new season gets underway on 28 September with the prospect of a vibrant programme including on 26 October the Dennis Rollins Velocity Trio (recently critically-feted with the BBC Jazz Award for Best Band, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Award and British Jazz Awards).
