Lake Bend 1955 added bordersOur Reader in Culture, Media and Creative Industries, Dr Richard Howells, contributed the double-page Culture section to this week’s Times Higher Education magazine.

His feature article: “Faking Cats and Dogs: Shades of Grey Among the eBay ‘Lowrys’” marks the closure of Tate Britain’s blockbuster “L.S. Lowry and the Painting of Modern Life” this month. Howells’ article, however, explores the number of fake works by Lowry available on the Internet. The full details are: Richard Howells, “Faking Cats and Dogs: Shades of Grey Among the eBay ‘Lowrys’” in The Times Higher Education, 3 October 2013, pp. 48-49. The Internet version, titled: “Shades of grey among the eBay ‘Lowrys’” is available online at http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/features/culture/shades-of-grey-among-the-ebay-lowrys/2007770.fullarticle

And just to keep his hand in, visual culture specialist Dr Howells also has a book review of Roger Fry’s Difficult and Uncertain Science (Peter Lang, 2013) in the “What Are You Reading” section of the same edition, page 51.
